At a young age, the sounds of Hardcore and Jungle caught DJ Snipes’ attention. He would listen to Energy FM and record the sets from the DJs’ shows, which instantly sparked a passion and love for music. After buying a pair of turntables, he would visit Black Market Records in Soho every Saturday to purchase the latest exclusive vinyl tracks.

Snipes began playing at local parties in and around Croydon, eventually making his way into clubs across London. Some notable venues include Temple (Tottenham), Liquid & Envy (Crawley), O2 Arena (Greenwich), Hidden (Vauxhall), and Blue Orchid (Croydon). The positive reactions from different crowds made him realize he had a talent for selecting and mixing the best tracks.

In the mid-’90s, he transitioned into playing UK Garage, which was originally referred to as US Garage. This genre saw the release of unique sounds from artists like TuffJam and Steve Gurley. He had a weekly slot on Fat FM and later moved to Select UK on Sundays, which became quite popular with regular listeners.

Over the years, his musical repertoire broadened, and he held a residency for four years at Yates in Hounslow, where he mixed genres such as R&B, Hip Hop, Bashment, club classics, and House. This diverse experience solidified his expertise in mixing and blending different musical styles.

DJ Snipes also ventured into event promotion, collaborating with his longtime friend Trevor (Kix Mag). Kix has spent years on the circuit not just in the UK but also in the USA, Ayia Napa, and Croatia. He has interviewed both established and up-and-coming artists, including Krept & Konan, Ghetts, Labrinth, Becky Hill, Buskin, Katy B, Mobb Deep, Raekwon, and many others. While in the USA, Kix visited the Ruff Ryders recording studio to film and record a cypher with local NY rappers, which can be found on the Kix Mag YouTube channel.

Together, Kix and Snipes hosted various talent shows in Camden, such as “IN IT TO WIN IT,” “Camden Unplugged,” and “I Get Mine.” These events allowed artists to showcase their music live on stage, with winners receiving special awards.

Currently, Kix is recording Kix Podcasts featuring fresh and experienced talent from around the globe. Meanwhile, Snipes holds a residency for Glam & Boujee events and is working on releasing his own beats!
