Like many DJs, Redlee began his journey in his bedroom with a set of decks and a handful of records. During this time, he discovered his passion for music and decided to fully commit to it. He immersed himself in learning how to beat mix and never looked back.
As Redlee progressed, more people became involved, leading to the creation of promotions such as ‘Nice2bNice,’ ‘TopNotch,’ and ‘Flirtin.’ They recorded and distributed sets widely to establish their name and showcase their skills, which opened up opportunities for them to perform at bars and clubs in Kingston, Epsom, and the surrounding areas. As Redlee’s reputation grew, he secured gigs at well-known venues like Club Colosseum, Babalou in Brixton, Options Nightclub, and the Rez Bar. Things began to take off, and he enjoyed every moment.
Eventually, Redlee landed a resident DJ position and worked his way through many popular bars in Kingston, performing on special occasions like Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Throughout his early career, he achieved numerous personal milestones, including being the runner-up in the Pure Vinyl regional competition for SFI Group, and establishing his name through outdoor events and private hires.
A turning point came during a holiday in Ibiza when Redlee managed to secure a set at the Coastline Bar and later played at the Cafe Bar and the Congo Bar. It was at this moment that he realized how far he had come—from arguing with his brother Carloss about who was the better DJ in their bedroom to living the dream on the beaches of Ibiza.
Since that time, Redlee has moved on from simply lugging equipment and proving himself. He became involved in various projects and played regular sets on the pirate radio scene, working with stations like Scream FM, Resist FM, Dance FM, Phat FM, Edge FM, and Flex FM.
Now that Flex FM is a legal station, Redlee and his longtime collaborator Sibtorious have built upon their well-known Saturday morning breakfast show, but all good things come to an end. Sibs has now moved to Sundays with his own show in the morning. They have relaunched Nice2BNice Productions, hosting private parties and events at various pubs and bars. Recently, Redlee has played at notable venues such as Ministry of Sound, Urban Oasis, and Epsom Boogie Lounge with The Good Grooves group.
Working closely with his Flex FM family, Redlee regularly joins Noelsie on the Morning Breakfast Show, creating a fantastic and enjoyable experience. The pair share amazing chemistry and both often end up in fits of laughter. The future looks bright, and he’s excited to dive back into what he loves most. Let’s see what happens next!
