Hylu is a DJ, producer, label owner, engineer and the founder of Unit 137 sound system. Unit 137 is based in Lewisham, and has operated successfully as a sound, artist collective, record label and event production crew since 2012.

Hylu creates bass music with a wide range of influences; reggae, dub, jungle, hip-hop, dubstep and jazz can be heard in his sound. Hylu places importance on a conscious message in his work and collaboration is an essential part of his practice. 

As a producer Hylu has remixed tracks for various international artists including Congo Natty, Tour de Force and onlyjoe, and has released on numerous labels, including; Big Dada, Moonshine Recordings, Tru Thoughts, Black Butter & Dub Stuy.

Hylu has released a number of successful singles and EPs through his own label, Unit 137, most notably ’Pressure’ feat. Kosher, which received international acclaim in 2016. 

Hylu is currently developing a new hybrid performance style that combines elements from the recording studio with his live setup. Blurring the boundaries of mixing, live performance and dubbing/remixing from recorded stems; taking the studio to the dance, placing Hylu at the frontline of UK sound system culture.
